What Is DTF Printing?
(No, Not That DTF)
We know what you are thinking. But no, around here DTF stands for Direct to Film, and it’s the printing technology behind every design we put on a shirt, tote bag, or transfer.
So what exactly is DTF printing?
DTF printing is a process where a design is printed directly onto a special film, coated with a heat activated powder, and then pressed onto fabric using a heat press. The result is a vibrant, full color print that is soft to the touch, stretchy, and built to last.
Why we love it:
- Prints on virtually any fabric including cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and more
- No color limitations, full color designs including gradients and fine details print beautifully
- No minimum orders required, we can print one shirt just as easily as one hundred
- Soft hand feel that does not crack, peel, or fade
- Works on light and dark garments without any extra steps
Other printing processes require expensive setup fees and high minimum orders, making it tough for small businesses and individuals. Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) is limited to single colors or simple designs. DTF gives you the quality of screen printing with the flexibility of no minimums and unlimited color options at a price that actually makes sense.
How it works:
- We print your design onto DTF film using professional grade ink
- We apply heat activated adhesive powder to the print
- The powder is cured and the transfer is ready to press
- We heat press the transfer onto your garment at the perfect temperature and pressure
- The result is a clean, vibrant, durable print ready to wear
The short version:
Professional quality prints. No minimums. Any design. Any fabric.
